Roman Catholic-Orthodox dialogue, due to the doctrinal similitude of both ecclesial traditions, raises the greatest hopes as to unification in faith and in church teachings. Over nearly four hundred years of work by the Joint Commission for the theological dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church on the global scene, it has born much good fruit. W trakcie XIX-wiecznych kasat klasztorów na obszarze cesarstwa rosyjskiego względy ekonomiczne stanowił istotny, może najważniejszy, ale niejedyny czynnik, uwzględniany przy podejmowaniu decyzji o zniesieniu domu zakonnego. This chapter analyses the legal and canonical situation of the Romanian Byzantine Catholics in Hungary at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. Being part of the Hungarian State, the Greek Catholic bishops were subjected to the Hungarian hierarchy, attending the congresses and conferences of the Roman Catholic Bishops of Hungary. In addition, they were loyal to the Holy See, favouring the Latinisation of the Church in the three provincial councils. Through this approach, they secured the support of the papacy in disputes with the Hungarian higher clergy. Działalność biskupa Hryhoryja Chomyszyna na rzecz latynizacji Cerkwi greckokatolickiej

Błogosławiony Grzegorz Chomyszyn był ukraińskim greckokatolickim biskupem i męczennikiem. Urodził się 25 marca 1867 r. w wiosce Hadyńkowce, we wschodniej Galicji. W 1904 r. został wyświęcony na biskupa Stanisławowa. Chomyszyn uważał, że Cerkiew greckokatolicka powinna przyjąć więcej tradycji zachodnich, aby podkreślić związek unickiej Cerkwi z Rzymem. Oznaczało to wprowadzenie łacińskich praktyk takich jak kalendarz gregoriański i ścisłe przestrzegania celibatu duchownych.

The Figure of Patriarch Alexius I in the Context of Communication Between the Serbian Diaspora and the Serbian Orthodox Church

Abstract This article discusses peculiarities of trilateral relations between the Serbian diaspora in the United States, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Moscow Patriarchate in the postwar period and in the 1960s. The work is primarily based on textual analysis of correspondence between Serbian American-Canadian Bishop Dionysius and Patriarch Alexius I. It examines the activities of the Serbian diaspora in achieving improvements in the situation of the Church in Yugoslavia, its attempts to influence the “Macedonian Church issue”, as well as the contacts of bishop Dionysius with the ROC after the schism within SOC in America in 1963.
